Crocheting Baby Hats….I’m obsessed!

Well, I’ve been on the baby hat crocheting band wagon for about 6 weeks now….Who would have thought?

About 6-7 weeks ago I got very sick and ended up having the old fashioned Influenza A virus…I could hardly do anything but sit in my chair and sleep…believe it or not I didn’t miss any work and I really should have. I went to work with a fever for a whole week and then thank the Lord I had the next week off for vacation. I coughed for almost 5 weeks and just couldn’t get going, which started the whole hat crocheting thing….what else is there to do when all you want to do is sit in a chair? My mom also was in the hospital for over 3 weeks and the last week she was there I would bring my crocheting along, it was, and is therapy for me. My mom passed away two weeks ago, but she sure enjoyed looking at all of the hats I had done. My mama loved to look at all of the projects I was working on….it made her happy to see them, and I loved showing her! I inherited my ‘busy’ work project making from her. I love you so much mama and I really do miss you.

I will start sewing again soon, I can feel the urges coming back ! But for now here are some pictures of my grandbabies, 6 month old  Emersyn and 3yr old Walker.

I have probably made over 50 hats this past 6 weeks….I’m not exaggerating either…My sister Barb is selling them in her store in Iowa…they are selling pretty well too.

I have the day off today, and I’m not sure what I’ll do…maybe clean the house a little, sew a little, or crochet a little! We will have to see.

Quilting and Crocheting

Well, I’ve been inspired to switch from crocheting infinity scarves to baby caps! I’m having so much fun! And of course I’m still quilting like crazy too!

These are fun and easy….I’ve got other ones I’m working on now too that will be quite a bit different than these. I need to get some more yarn and different colors….Maybe try one for a boy!

I’m getting my Vintage Tin quilt put together now too…It’s been pretty easy so far….

I just need to make a bunch of flying geese and this top will be done! WooHoo!

Baby Quilts

I’ve just finished two baby quilts this week…..one should have been finished two years ago….Briony is now two and I’ve just finished quilting and binding her quilt that my mom made for her. It had gotten buried in my sewing room and I had conveniently forgotten all about it. When I was looking for the backing for Danelle’s baby quilt I found it and thought I had better make it a priority to get done. It’s finished and looks pretty good for just a panel and borders. Hopefully I can get it to her soon.

 

 

This quilt for Baby Joel turned out really cute.I love the name on it. It was pretty easy to do and really looks nice.The colors are more vibrant than the pictures shows…It makes me smile to look at it!

Time for Sewing again!

After the last 5 weeks, I am so ready to have life return to normal…which means normal work hours and normal sewing hours!

I actually cleaned some of the house today and that makes me feel good…..I also did some sewing which makes me feel even better! I love to go to my sewing room and get lost in my fabric and quilts. Speaking of lost….I can’t find the backing to Danelle’s baby quilt that I purchased about two weeks ago. I’m pretty certain I remember bringing it home, but I can’t find it anywhere. I even cleaned and rearranged my sewing room a little to no avail….I’m not sure what I’m going to do about it either…I bought the last few yards off the bolt, so there’s no more to be had. If it doesn’t show up by tomorrow, I’ll have to use something that I have on hand….this really frustrates me.

I gave Val her Winter Wonderland quilt for Christmas…she really liked it! I am so proud of my sister…she’s lost over 100 pounds now! Way to go Val!

And here is another quilt I just finished binding….my “Paris in the Fall’ BOM….

Here is the quilt I made for Baby Joel….I need to quilt it, but first I have to find the backing! Hopefully it will turn up soon….I think I just might need to pray about this. Whenever I lose something, I pray that God will help me find it, and 99.9 % of the time I find whatever I’ve lost! Thank you Jesus!

I’m still making scarves too….I can’t even begin to count how many of these infinity (cowl) scarves I’ve made now…Most of them are in my daughter Karmon’s possession….I’m making a few to bring to my daughter Lesley now too…

Of course the purple one was made special for Lesley, and a big thank you to Lesley for giving me a subscription to the magazine ‘Primitive Quilts and Projects’….I absolutely love the magazine!

Busy Busy Busy….Need I Say More?

I have been so busy at work delivering all of those Christmas presents….that I haven’t gotten as much done this December as I would have liked. I think I do have everything done that I need for gift giving though…..so that’s a plus for me!

Danelle’s baby quilt…..the top is done and now on to quilting…Looks much better in person!

and a small wall hanging that I am finishing…just need batting and a backing now….Might put this on our family Christmas auction.

one more jar table runner…I have this on my table right now!

A scarf made for a Christmas gift…turned out pretty good.

Val’s Christmas gift….I should have the binding done in a day or two…I’m also working on infinity scarves …they are fun and easy….Here’s a couple of pictures of what I’ve done so far….my daughter wanted the really wide and short one made for her….In other words it’s a special order!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

It’s looking a lot like Christmas at my job….I won’t have much time to do any sewing this coming month since I’ll be delivering packages 6 days a week thru Christmas! I really dread the next 3 1/2 weeks….no rest for me, and very long days driving and delivering. The good thing to come out of this will be my larger paycheck which I’ve already spent at Joann’s on line during their Black Friday sales….wonderful bargains and free shipping! WooHoo! Baby flannel for $1.99 a yard and all notions 1/2 price! I could spend a bunch more too, but I’ve got to control myself.

I just got three quilts back from my quilter Kelly….now I only need to get them bound….someday anyway. The Winter Wonderland is for my sister for Christmas, so I’ll have to get it done soon. I love to do redwork, this is the 3rd quilt like this I’ve made and I’m thinking of doing one in black very soon.

This was a BOM….Paris in Fall…all reds, browns and tans.

Who doesn’t love Kansas Troubles? I think I’m getting tired of it and then I see the quilts I’ve done with it and I fall in love all over again. This log cabin Kansas Troubles quilt is one I’m keeping for myself….It’s the second one like it I’ve done…..the first one I gave to Barb, my sister…Mom cut out all of the flowers and ironed them on the blocks…so it’s a quilt that mom helped me with so it’s kind of special.

My jar table runner that is quilted and bound now….I love it! And here is another one I just finished that needs to be quilted. These are so easy and fun to do….

And another quilt I’ve started for my granddaughter Emersyn….These blocks are very time consuming, and I’ve already made a large quilt out of these for my daughter Lesley….When I went and visited her this past month I saw it on one of her beds, it had been washed and it looked so soft and inviting, it made me want to make another one, only this one will be much smaller. These blocks are 12 1/2 inches unfinished, and you have to sew a lot of curved seams to finish a block. I plan on putting a snow white border on and then some large green rick rack for stems of appliqued flowers, I also plan on putting her name on in large black letters in the border too. Hard to explain, but I have it all in my head how I want this to look. Hopefully it will look as good as I think it can.

And last but not least are my scarves…I finished four more and these are for my sister Wendy to give as Christmas gifts.
