Quilt Label

DSC03864

The label for my granddaughter’s quilt.

My daughter Lesley, has a blog named, The Purple Carrot and a spin off of that named Purple Carrot Kids, so I thought this was a very appropriate label for the back of the baby quilt I just made for her.

I’ve left a blank spot on the yellow label to fill in when the baby is  born and I know her name.

I’ve had some fun the last couple of days working on the labels for these two baby quilts. I’m trying to make them very personal and for them to mean something to the baby and the parents.

And on another note, my daughter Karmon has started an Etsy shop with her jewelry. She has some very nice things, so please take a look at some of them…KMCbeads

Thanks and Happy Quilting!

Baby Quilts!

I’m still working away on baby things….the shower for my daughter and my niece is fast approaching; only one week away! I’m so excited to see all of my family, though one of my sisters will be missing….she’s spending her summer in Maryland with her daughters. We will miss you Wendy, Nina and Kalanju! The most exciting is getting to see my daughter and her baby bump…..oooh! Exciting…..

Here is the label for the quilt made for my niece’s baby…..this quilt was super easy and turned out really well. I had an extra block and thought I’d use it for the label on the back….I did some embroidery and then used a pigma pen to finish it off….I love it!

A picture of the baby quilt and my helper Wilber….this picture is for Barb and Ericka….Wilber says ‘Hi’ and that he’s making sure the quilt is ‘just’ right for the new little Baby Stephany before we give it away! Actually he’s probably making sure it will be good enough for his brother ‘Goat’ to lay on when it comes to Goat’s house…he’s just that kind of a brother!

Another receiving blanket almost finished!

The two  recently finished embroidery blocks for my Vintage Tins quilt. Only one large and one small block to go and I’ll be ready to start making the pieced blocks to go with this quilt….I’ve been ‘collecting’ fabric for this the last month or so….I’m going to put a dark red with the black and tan for the blocks…I think I’ll really like this one.

And now it’s time to work on the extra special label for my new granddaughter’s quilt…..I’ve got me some plans!

Happy quilting!

Baby Quilts

I haven’t been doing much of anything but working and sewing on my soon- to- arrive granddaughter’s quilt…….My niece is also expecting and is due in October. So I’ve been doing lots of baby stuff….

This isn’t the greatest picture, but you get the idea. It’s much better looking in person.

My niece’s baby quilt…..She chose the colors and I picked the pattern.  I just need to bind this one and it will be done. Here is what I want to get done before their shower in two weeks….more receiving blankets. I think it’s possible!DSC03845

Weekend Project….Baby Quilt

When we visited our daughter in St. Joe about 6 weeks ago, Lesley and I went fabric shopping to see what she wanted for a baby quilt. She chose a chevron pattern with four colors, lt. turquoise, yellow, pink and purple…She really wanted the purple.

I started on the baby crib size quilt 40”x 50” on Saturday and this morning I just finished sewing on the last strip. This will be cute when it’s been quilted and washed. I hope it turned out the way she thought it would. I think I’ll bind it in one of the colors of the chevrons, whichever color I’ve got the most of left. I need to buy some backing now, not sure what I’ll get yet….DSC03836

Baby Blankets and more….

My goal of sewing a block a day for my Pony Club Quilt has gone out the window this past week. I’ve decided it was time to get a bunch of baby stuff done for my granddaughter who is due to arrive on August 23rd. We are having a shower for my daughter the end of June and I want to have some things done for her by then. So I’ve been making burp pads and receiving blankets…..

DSC03832DSC03834

I’ve got over 20 burp pads made and about 13 flannel receiving blankets made….I give a lot of both of these away whenever I know someone whose had a baby, so I usually try to have some extra on hand. The next item on the agenda for my new grandbaby is another quilt, which Lesley picked out…It will be a chevron quilt.DSC03828I’ve been embroidering in the evenings while I’m sitting in my comfortable chair….I’ve got two more of the large blocks and two more of the smaller blocks to embroider and then I’ll be ready to start on the piecing of my Vintage Tins quilt….

I’ve also been doing some stitching on my wool quilt, “Primitive Garden”….only one more border and it will be done! I just got the last one in the mail about a week ago….This border is the one on the left side…..Now only the top border to get done and it will be ready to send off to be quilted!

Amish With a Twist BOM

I only have one more month of my Amish With a Twist Block of the Month left to do…..I’m all caught up, so I’m feeling pretty good about it! I think it is turning out pretty nice….much different than what I usually tend to gravitate towards.DSC03817

The colors aren’t right in this picture….they are very bright and this just doesn’t do them justice. These blocks finish at 14 5/8”…there will be black sashing and a cornerstone between these blocks. Then a keyboard border, more black with an applique in two of the corners.  So…another month and this one will be done and it will be in the mail to Kelly Kreft to be quilted.

DSC03824  The latest three Farmer’s Wife Pony Club blocks…I think I’m almost half done with the blocks now. I’m trying to get at least one done a day, so I will be done with this quilt in another 6 weeks or so….but knowing me it will probably be done sooner than that. These blocks are 8 1/2” unfinished.DSC03821

And here is my helper “Wilber” taking a nap on the job. I made him his own ‘box’ bed with some fleece in it. Hopefully he’ll be sleeping in it instead of on all my fabric!
